We're going to get a little emotional here. It's okay. This is a safe place.
:)
In the spring of 2001, I took a 3 month break from life. I packed up my Jetta and traveled up PCH to the Oregon coast. I made some new friends along the way, climbed the Half Dome and attended a month long Shakespeare festival in Ashland, Oregon.
It sounds like a fun time - and it was - but it was one of the darkest seasons of my life. Being surrounded by friends didn't ease the dull ache in my gut; that intense sensation of being alone and worthless. My one escape, books, helped me crawl out of that pit.
Most writers have a love story with books, writing or both. I have a salvation story. And because of that, I have big feelings about other writers who are showing up every day to share their art with the world. I appreciate these crafters of grammar and syntax. I even admire a few of them.
As a fledgling author, I've discovered entirely too much information on SEO, facebook algorithms, pimping yourself out on multiple social media platforms and the like. More than one dozen "experts" have fine tuned formulas for your success. More than a few thousand of them want ridiculous amounts of money to catapult you into millionaire status (their words, not mine). If you don't know what you're doing, you'll end up feeling discouraged and tend to withdraw your gifts.
{P.S. I still have no idea what I'm doing. I'll figure it out later. It's on my bucket list.}
... but what if it's as simple as supporting one another? What if giving a few minutes of your week would make a tremendous impact for an author?
Enter EC Readers. I'm a newbie to Ericka Clay's work, but I felt it was important to join and help a sister out. Why? Because if I'm telling my 100+ followers about this, and you're telling your 300+ followers about this, and someone with over 1,500 followers joins the conversation ... the math becomes very simple and awesome for Ericka. At the end of it all, we get the credit of helping an author bring her masterpiece into the world. That's reason enough for me.
